Anna Altman
Coral reefs have fascinated and inspired Anna all her life. They are invaluable to our planet and offer the greatest biodiversity of any marine ecosystem. But rising temperatures and pollution endangers these spectacular creatures.
In her work Anna tries to interpret or mirror their forms, as well as to draw attention to treats corals facing.
In the making of her work, she employs a whole range of clay working techniques, including throwing, altering, pressing, slabbing and coil building. All the pieces are fired two or three times. Some pieces receive a royal treatment of gold application.
